DPP Deadlines & Milestones

When does the Digital Product Passport become mandatory?

The EU is rolling out the Digital Product Passport (DPP) in stages. Here you'll find all the important deadlines and milestones – so you're prepared in time.

The Digital Product Passport is part of the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and is designed to make product data digitally accessible across its entire lifecycle. The goal: more transparency for consumers, more efficient recycling and a more sustainable circular economy. For manufacturers, this means new documentation obligations – but also the chance to stand out from the competition through digital leadership.

The rollout happens in stages: first for batteries (from 2027), then for further product categories such as textiles, construction products and electronics. The exact requirements are set out through delegated acts of the EU Commission. Those who start now have the advantage of planning implementation without time pressure.
